Dante Gabriel Rossetti, the famous 19th-century poet and artist, was once approached by an elderly man.The old fellow had some sketches and drawings that he wanted Rossetti to look at and tell him if they were any good, or if they at least showed potential talent.
Rossetti looked over them carefully. After the first few, he knew that they were worthless but Rossetti was a kind man, he told the elderly man as gently as possible that the pictures were without much value and showed little talent. He was sorry, but he could not lie to the man. The man was disappointed, but seemed to expect Rossetti’s judgment.
Rossetti looked over the second batch of sketches and immediately became enthusiastic over the talent they revealed. “These,” he said, “oh, these are good.”
“This young student has a great talent. He should be given every help and encouragement. He has a great future.”
Rossetti could see that the old fellow was deeply moved.
“Who is this fine young artist?” he asked. ”Your son?”
“No,” said the old man sadly.
“It is me - 40 years ago. If only I had heard your praise then! For you see, I got discouraged and gave up – too soon.”

i think encouragement is very important for all people.Every body went to get some support for other, it will make us feel strength,frame of mind to achieve something.
This story is very dominant because it tells us how to motivate ourselves to do anythings. One most things, encouragement is a main power to push us to get success for doing something. As we know, all the people before they do some things smoothly, they also need exhortation from other.
After, i read this story i think that encouragement is very importance for all people, it told us the way how to control ourselves and especially to control our mind to get success our goal example studying and working we need encouragement form teachers and parents and friends because that encouragement is great way to push us to get success for doing something for future time.
For me, encouragement is very important and i would say that i could not have today if i did not have great encouragement from my family and friends.Encouragement can lead people have bright lives in the future.
I think that this article is short but meaningful. For me, encouragement is very important for all of you because when we are looked down, actually we need someone help us to be better. For instance, some students wait for a gift and motivation from lecturers or parents, so if they get the encouragement from them, i believe they will succeed in doing something. However, we need to have self-motivation first.
